Silvia Forrest was born in Brazil and spent her childhood surrounded by an artistic environment provided by the many musicians in the family.

Raised and educated in Brazil and in Israel, she graduated  from the Federal University of Parana’ in Brazil  and went on to enjoy a successful career as a chemical engineer both in Brazil and in the United States where she has lived since the 1980’s.

In spite of her decision to pursue a career in engineering she had the desire to dedicate more of her time and energy to nurture the artist in her. She was finally able to realize her dream when in 2000 she decided to commit all her time and energy to painting full time.

Having lived in several countries with strikingly different cultures has considerably broadened her perception of the world. She believes that  imagination and exploration are the roots of creativity, whether in art or in science.
